About the This Woven Kingdom Series

This is a post I’ve wanted to write for so long… and finally, here we are. This Woven Kingdom is a beloved series of mine, and I can’t believe we’re now at FOUR BOOKS. It’s incredible how an author can keep me hooked for so long.

Ā

Usually, if the series isn’t good enough, I don’t even bother continuing past book 3 (From Blood and Ash I’m looking at YOU, YES), but This Woven Kingdom has something… it’s pure catnip!!

So, with the release of book four A Spiral of Fate, I wanted to celebrate it with a super mega guide, just like you book besties know I adore writing.

Ā

But before we go deep into the guide, I want to address something important: This Woven Kingdom is one of the best slow burn fantasy romances out there right now (more on this later on the whys), AND it nails the enemies-to-lovers trope to a T as well.

If you’re as obsessed as I am with these two tropes, this series is A MUST.

And if you want more books like This Woven Kingdom, save these two posts for later—you’ll thank me!!

Now, let’s get into the guide!!

This Woven Kingdom Series Guide

This Woven Kingdom Series Reading Order:

As usual with long series, there isn’t, like… a big shiny number on the cover saying ā€œhey, this is book two of the series xDā€. And believe me, I’ve actually seen people on Reddit saying stuff like ā€œfuck, I started with the second book and now I’m totally lost!!ā€ (true story, in an ACOTAR subreddit someone confessed this… poor thing totally spoiled the whole series for herself T__T).

Ā

So, for my new book besties, to make sure you don’t end up in the same mess, here’s the correct reading order for This Woven Kingdom.

Ā

And yes, each book picks up right where the last one left off. It’s all one continuous story, not like other series where book one follows one character, book two another, and they all interconnect together later (The Lunar Chronicles does this, for example).

Ā

You can either click the box with the book titles to jump directly to each section (with summaries, ending explained, tropes… you know me haha), or just click the book covers!

Book 1 – This Woven Kingdom

This post is HUGE, faerie besties… so I added a mini Table of Contents for each book.
✨ Simply click on the topic you want to read, and it’ll take you straight there, no endless scrolling required (you’re welcome hehe).

To all the world, Alizeh is a disposable servant, not the long-lost heir to an ancient Jinn kingdom forced to hide in plain sight.

The crown prince, Kamran, has heard the prophecies foretelling the death of his king. But he could never have imagined that the servant girl with the strange eyes, the girl he can’t put out of his mind, would one day soon uproot his kingdom – and the world.

This Woven Kingdom Summary

A full summary with the most important plot points for This Woven Kingdom. Be aware this summary is full of spoilers!!

The Hidden Heir

Alizeh hides in plain sight as a servant in Ardunia, all the while concealing the truth that she is the prophesied heir to the Jinn throne. Gifted with forbidden magic, she survives quietly in a kingdom that has all but destroyed her people.

A Prince who falls in love with a common girl

Prince Kamran, raised to hate and distrust the Jinn, never stood a chance once he met her. He’s drawn to her strength and defiant attitude, and before long she inevitable falls for her.
(Yes, it smells like instalove, but it has that unmistakable Tahereh Mafi flair that makes you forgive it.)

The Prophecy

The prophecy is clear: the Jinn queen’s heir will rise, and with her rise the Ardunian monarchy will fall.
When Alizeh’s identity is exposed by King Zaal himself(Kamran’s paranoid grandfather) she is captured, and whatever fragile bond she had with Kamran crumbles under the weight of crown, loyalty, and destiny.

The King of Tulan ( SPOILERS!!!)

The real plot twist comes when Cyrus, the young king of Tulan, enters the scene unannounced. ( Rhysand fans from Acotar will totally see the similarities here) Charismatic, powerfull and dangerous, he slays King Zaal right there in the court, turning Ardunia into chaos.

Ā

With the old king dead and Kamran powerless to intervene, Cyrus kidnaps Alizeh and escapes with her on the back of his dragon, binding her fate to his own dark plans.

THis Woven Kingdom Ending Explained: Cyrus's Entrance

FULL OF SPOILERS DON'T READ!!

Cyrus’s completely unexpected appearance in the final chapters—besides being one of the best entrances of a character I’ve read since Rhysand’s arrival in that particular moment in ACOMAF—completely shifts the story.

Up until then, the tension was around Alizeh’s hidden identity and her forbidden romance with Prince Kamran. Now, a third character storms onto the scene and basically snatches Alizeh away, taking her to his kingdom,

Ā

This HUGE twist does two things:

Ā

Love Triangle: Yes!! That entrance… Cyrus doesn’t care about Kamran, Ardunia, or anything else. He shows up, kills the king, demonstrates his power, and leaves with Alizeh on his dragon..period.
High Political Stakes: With Alizeh now at Cyrus’s mercy, the conflict is no longer just between Ardunia and the hidden Jinn. It now involves Tulan, a powerful kingdom with its own agenda.

Ā

Cyrus comes in to give the story a massive twist. His motives by the end of This Woven Kingdom are totally unclear, but his claim on Alizeh ensures that the prophecy will unfold in unexpected ways.

This cliffhanger pushes the story from a cute forbidden romance into full-scale political fantasy and sets the stage for These Infinite Threads (Book 2).

The Prophecy in This Woven Kingdom

ā€œThe heir of the Jinn shall rise, and with her rise will fall the human kings.ā€
This prophecy foretells that the lost descendant of the Jinn queen will one day reclaim her throne, overthrowing the human monarchy that has ruled Ardunia for centuries.

Ā

For the Ardunian crown: the prophecy is a dire threat. King Zaal views it as inevitable doom and orders his court to watch for signs of the Jinn heir.

Ā

For Kamran: it creates a painful conflict. His duty demands that he fight against the prophecy, yet his heart draws him to Alizeh, the very girl destined to fulfil it.

Ā

For Cyrus, the king of Tulan:Ā  He sees Alizeh not as a threat but as a weapon, and by binding her to himself, he hopes to turn destiny to his advantage. (or that is what it seems for us readers when we met him in his glorious entry hehe )

This Woven Kingdom Tropes & Themes

This Woven Kingdom Spice Level

If you’re going in expecting spice…don’t. This book is firmly on the clean side. There are no explicit scenes, and romance takes a backseat to worldbuilding, prophecy, and court intrigue.

Ā

That said, the **tension is constant**. Every interaction between Alizeh and Kamran screams with forbidden attraction: stolen glances, and the weight of knowing they shouldn’t want each other. It’s all yearning, political stakes, and angst..the kind of slow-burn tension that keeps you hooked without a single kiss.

In short: zero spice, maximum angst.

This Woven Kingdom review: the King of slow burn angst and tension

Truth be told, this series wasn’t hyped AT ALL when the first book came out.

Ā

There was some instalove (like in all Tahereh Mafi books, she’s the author of the mega-popular dystopian romance Shatter Me) and people were like… ā€œokay, the ending is promising… but I’m not totally convinced.ā€

It wasn’t until book 3 hit the shelves that This Woven Kingdom truly EXPLODED.

Ā

Without giving away too many spoilers, let’s just say this series portrays slow burn to absolute perfection. Can you believe we’re entering book 4 and the heroine and main love interest haven’t EVEN KISSED yet??

Ā

Normally, if by book 4 there isn’t even a soft kiss, I’d be bored out of my mind, but believe me when I tell you it’s IMPOSSIBLE to get bored with this series. Tahereh Mafi is SO GOOD at writing slow burns that you’re dying for more with every single page.

Ā

The main love interest is utterly TORMENTED and tragic. His POV is amazing, it honestly carries so much of the emotional weight of the story. I think it helped tons that this series has multiple POVs; it adds so much more to the overall plot.

Ā

Cyrus is the archetype of ā€œI love her so much I should let her go… but I can’t.ā€ He’s so conflicted… and POSSESSIVE. And I adore this from Tahereh. Out of nowhere, her male characters will drop one of those super possessive lines that feel almost too much for a YA book, and you’re left like… what did I just read?? And I love it.
(Psst… another author who’s known for writing VERY similar male characters is Stephanie Garber, no wonder her Once Upon a Broken Heart series is a fan favourite too.)
Keeping this review strictly to book one: I was totally hooked. And the ending? Something I did NOT expect at all.

Ā

Tahereh is also well known for her love triangles, so I spent the entire first book waiting for the other guy to appear… and it did NOT disappoint. Like with her Shatter Me series, I didn’t realise who endgame was until the end of book 2. Back when this first book released, I still remember the heated forum debates: ā€œKamran is endgame!ā€ — ā€œNo, Cyrus is the one!!ā€ But luckily, this has already been solved (love triangle haters, worry not!!).
Several authors use the same formula (ACOTAR, Fourth Wing) but hey… Tahereh was here first. And she EXCELS at it.

Overall Rating for This Woven Kingdom ( Book 1 )

Books like This Woven Kingdom

If you’re anything like me and you love to suffer with books where the slow burn drags on forever, but you just can’t put them down and end up torturing yourself right alongside the characters…then these titles are perfect to keep the delicious pain going šŸ˜€

Book 2 – These Infinite Threads

Table of Contents for Book 2: These Infinite Threads

Author: Tahereh Mafi
Genre: Fantasy Romance

Spice level: Clean

With the heat of a kiss, the walls between Alizeh, the long-lost heir to an ancient Jinn kingdom, and Kamran, the crown prince of the Ardunian empire, have crumbled. And so have both of their lives.
Alizeh, the heir to the Jinn throne, is destined to free her people from the half-lives they’ve been forced to live under human rule. When Kamran, the heir to the human throne, falls in love with her, he’s forced to question everything he’s been taught about Jinn.
Kamran’s grandfather lays dead at the hand of Cyrus, ruler of the neighboring kingdom of Tulan. Cyrus has stolen Alizeh away to his homeland and plans to marry her there, giving her everything she needs to become the Jinn queen—and when she assumes the throne he will have fulfilled his own bargain with the devil.
Alizeh wants nothing to do with Cyrus’s deal or the devil. But without a way to escape Tulan, and with the fulfillment of her own destiny tantalizingly close, she’ll have to decide whether she can set aside her emotions to become the queen her people need.
Kamran, meanwhile, is picking up the pieces in Ardunia. Facing betrayal at every turn, all he knows is that he must go to Tulan to avenge his grandfather. He can only hope that Alizeh will be waiting for him there—and that she hasn’t yet become the queen of Tulan.

These Infinite Threads Summary

FULL OF SPOILERS DON'T READ!!

Faerie besties..buckle up..becauuuse this book is A RIDE. Tahereh Mafi really said, ā€œYou thought you had things figured out in book one? WRONG

Ā

We open right where This Woven Kingdom left us: Cyrus storms in, kills King Zaal like he’s swatting a fly, and flies off with Alizeh on his dragon. Kamran? Left screaming in the ashes. And us? Already emotionally destroyed on page one.

Alizeh in Tulan

Cyrus takes (kidnaps) Alizeh and brings her to Tulan. This kingdom looks bright on the surface, golden palaces and splendour everywhere, but underneath, it’s rotten with corruption.

Ā

Cyrus immediately declares that Alizeh will be his queen. He doesn’t even bother to ask. Period xD. Naturally, Alizeh is livid: trapped, missing Kamran, and plotting her escape.

But there’s more: Cyrus doesn’t just want power. He’s cursed. He once made a bargain with Iblees (basically the devil of this universe), trading his soul for strength and the throne.

Ā

The problem? His soul is now bound; he’s destined to suffer unbearable torment… and his time is running out.

He needs Alizeh to break the curse.

Cyrus: Our lovely walking contradiction

Cyrus is our classic tormented villain love interest: cruel one moment, vulnerable the next. He hides behind a mask of evilness, but the cracks inevitably show…like when his pain overwhelms him and Alizeh catches glimpses of just how broken he truly is.

Ā

Their chemistry is fire, but also deceiving, because you never really know if he’s showing his true self… or just manipulating her.

Meanwhile Kamran…

Back in Andrunia, Kamran is a mess. He’s grieving his grandfather, scarred and burned from the battle, and basically watching his world crumble. The court questions his worthiness as heir. His face is marked, his heart is shattered, and yet he clings to the hope that Alizeh is alive. Our poor boy… (just a secret. I rooted for Kamran almost all this book)

Ā

His chapters are heavy with guilt, rage, and that obsessive loyalty that made me love him even more.

These Infinite Threads Ending Explained: CAOS

The last chapters are pure CHAOS.
Kamran wants to go to Tulan to get Alizeh back, but he isn’t in a strong political position to make it happen. So, he starts scheming a way to sneak into Tulan without making too much noise (with the help of some new ā€œfriendsā€).

Cyrus, meanwhile, decides he wants Alizeh for himself, by his side, curse be damned xD.

Ā

And then there’s the prophecy… which, of course, runs so much deeper than Alizeh ever thought. And Iblees? Yeah, he seems to play a major role in it.

The final scenes leave us with:

  • Alizeh unable to fully return to Kamran (too many political and magical chains still hold her).
  • But she also can’t completely reject Cyrus, because of his curse, the prophecy, and the way fate keeps shoving them together.
  • Iblees’ shadow looms over everything.Ā

Ā

Basically, Mafi doesn’t end this book on a HUGE cliffhanger like the previous one, but she makes it crystal clear: the next instalment will define Alizeh’s fate. She either breaks the curse… or is bound to Cyrus forever.

Ā

(Note from Alessa: I wouldn’t mind being bound to Cyrus forever haha xD)

These Infinite Threads Tropes and Themes

These Infinite Threads Spice Level

As with the first book, These Infinite Threads doesn’t contain spice, but the tension and angst escalate greatly in this second book, and we can see Cyrus’s obsession and possessiveness with Alizeh in all their glory.

These Infinite Threads Review: Team Kamran or Team Cyrus?

After the HUGE cliffhanger and rollercoaster that was This Woven Kingdom, I was genuinely afraid to dive into this one. Of course, I joined every debate online, trying to guess who was going to be endgame. The Kamran vs. Cyrus debate was PEAK at that time.

Ā

I have to confess I was team Kamran until book 3. I wasn’t totally convinced about Cyrus… but I guess Tahereh Mafi does this on purpose. Same with her Shatter Me series (which, honestly, deserves its own full review someday because that series is SO GOOD).

Ā

This book really focuses on Cyrus and Alizeh, or at least that’s how it felt to me…and on the VERY conflicted feelings Cyrus has for her, which he tries to deny again and again. But hey… I love watching tormented male characters suffer for love, and this author writes them SO well. You can literally feel the angst pouring through the pages.

Ā

We also follow Kamran’s side of the story, and there are some genuinely funny interactions between him and his new friends as they plot to rescue Alizeh. The contrast between the heavy, dramatic POVs of Alizeh and Cyrus and the more adventurous, lighthearted tone of Kamran creates the perfect balance. Without that, the book might have felt too heavy and overly character-driven—but the addition of those side characters (introduced back in book 1) really lightens things up, and you start to genuinely care for them.

Ā

The ending wasn’t as impactful as the one in the first book. However, I don’t think this instalment needed an explosive ending, because its whole purpose was to set up the pieces and prepare the board for book 3. And honestly? It nailed that goal.

Mini Table of Contents for Book 3: All This Twisted Glory

Cyrus’s dark reputation precedes him; all the world knows of his blood-soaked past. Killing him should be easy—and accepting his offer might be the only way to fulfill her destiny and save her people. All This Twisted Glory Summary

And… here we go again!! Tahereh Mafi’s stories are just SO addictive. I don’t even know how she does it, but she ALWAYS keeps me hooked!!
Let’s get right into the summary, because this was BY FAR my favourite book on the three.

Kamran arrives in Tulan (yay!)

All This Twisted Glory kicks off with Kamran flying straight into Tulan, joined by Miss Huda (one of my absolute favourite side characters) and his newly found ā€œfriendsā€ (let’s be real… they kind of invited themselves along. Kamran wasn’t exactly convinced about this ragtag group, but hey, help is help, haha).

Ā

He’s furious, heartbroken, still mourning his grandfather, and scarred both inside and out…but he’s not about to let Cyrus win Alizeh’s heart. Kamran will literally cross kingdoms if that’s what it takes to bring her back.

Alizeh, the Captive Queen

Meanwhile, Alizeh is in Cyrus’s palace. Surrounded by jewels, dressed by him in every kind of silk, she sits at his side as Cyrus parades her as his future bride. To the court, she looks powerful, but she knows the truth: she’s trapped.

Ā

She misses Kamran, tries to resist Cyrus, but can’t help being tormented whenever his mask slips and she sees his suffering. And deep down, she realises she won’t be able to simply run away from the prophecy… and that, one way or another, she will end up marrying Cyrus in the end.

Cyrus obsession becomes something more...

Cyrus is… a mess. Still cursed, still tormented by Iblees, he insists his destiny ties Alizeh to him. He’s manipulative, cruel, yet visibly broken. And that’s exactly what tears at Alizeh too. She hates him, but in those rare moments when his mask slips, she can’t help feeling compassion (and maybe something more?) for him.

Ā

Tahereh Mafi is SO GOOD at making us see both faces of Cyrus: the monster… and the king in agony.

The Reunion we waited Three Books for : Kamran - Alizeh - Cyrus

When Kamran and co. arrive at Tulan, they’re properly received as guests. Kamran is livid, seeing Alizeh beside Cyrus… and Cyrus doesn’t miss an opportunity to mock him and omg it’s so delicious seeing them fight for the same girl… The tension is so good!!.

From Kamran’s POV

He has been chasing Alizeh across kingdoms, doing the unthinkable to meet her, convinced she’s been taken against her will. When he sees her beside Cyrus, his heart literally breaks into pieces. Every glance he gives her is thick with longing and a silent promise of ā€œI will take you out from here.ā€

Alizeh’s POV

Alizeh sees Kamran and everything stops.

She’s wearing Cyrus’s crown, playing Cyrus’s queen, and every word she says is dangerous. Loving Kamran openly could kill them both. She does love Kamran, but watching Cyrus’s torment constantly, seeing him suffering and how the curse is eating him alive, something opens in her. She is not in love with him YET, but she understands him in a way no one else does… and that terrifies her.

Ā

When Kamran challenges Cyrus, Alizeh defends him (OMG THAT PART!!). Kamran doesn’t understand because he sees everything as black or white (ā€œyou are with him or you’re with meā€) and this is a pivot point in the story—when, in my opinion, the love triangle begins to break. Alizeh softens towards Cyrus right in front of Kamran, when she defends him, and Kamran sees everything..

Cyrus’s POV

And then there’s Cyrus.
Cyrus lives for this. He smirks, he taunts, he positions himself at Alizeh’s side just to watch Kamran bleed. For him, it’s a game of power: Kamran may love her, but Cyrus has the prophecy…and the girl.

Emotional Damage

For Kamran, this feels like betrayal. He’s bled for her, crossed kingdoms for her, and now she stands between him and Cyrus… on Cyrus’s side.
He is devastated.

Ā

Basically, Kamran realises that love might not be enough.

Ā

Cyrus realises Alizeh’s compassion might open the door to something more… and since he clearly loves her and is obsessed with her, he’s happy haha.

Ā

Alizeh realises she can’t simply belong to Kamran anymore, not when the prophecy, the curse, and her own feelings bind her to someone else as well.

All This Twisted GLory Ending Explained: The Blood Oath

When Kamran and his friends realise the wedding is going to happen no matter what (because of the prophecy and all the political schemes that have been building since book 1), Kamran makes his move: he forces Cyrus to take an unbreakable oath.

Ā

The oath doesn’t just mean Cyrus must protect Alizeh; it tethers him to her very existence. If he betrays her, he dies. If she dies, he dies. He cannot stray too far from her side, physically or magically. It’s not romance; it’s chains.

Ā

This is Kamran’s safeguard for keeping the woman he loves safe.

Cyrus’s doomed and tragic existence: Why he agrees anyway

This is where the tragedy hits in ALL ITS GLORY (hence the name of the book maybe?).

Cyrus accepts the oath because he doesn’t believe he will survive. He’s already resigned to dying. He thinks his death will become Alizeh’s crown.

Ā

He pushes for the marriage because it’s about Alizeh’s future, not his. By marrying her—even if he dies soon after—she’ll be legitimized as queen, she will inherit the throne, and the prophecy will be fulfilled. (As a side effect, it’s also his only way of staying close to her, even as his curse destroys him.)

Ā

He is certain Alizeh doesn’t want him. He knows Kamran holds her heart. But after realizing that his feelings for her are REAL and not a manipulation from Iblees, he realizes he loves her (this happens before the oath. And reading his POVs…best part of the book imo), that Alizeh was the only one who truly saw him. So, being bound to her, and if she remembers him with even a bit of compassion, then his doomed life will have had meaning.

All This Twisted Glory Review: Slow Burn Fantasy Romance at Its Peak

Ok, I made the mistake of reading this book without checking at least a summary from book 2, and it took me quite a WHILE TO UNDERSTAND what was happening. So, as a suggestion, if you haven’t begun the series yet, use these summaries before reading the next book.

Ā

Having said that, this book was my favourite by far.

Ā

In All This Twisted Glory, Tahereh Mafi finally gets to the point with Cyrus and portrays him in all his tormented glory. Oh boy, how he suffers for love… we truly feel his pain with every decision. We can understand his torment through his POV, and then see it unravel again through Alizeh’s words in her POV.

Ā

Besides, Kamran enters the scene and MY GOD, the tension!!

Ā

Kamran quickly realises Alizeh is not being held hostage… or at least he FEELS there’s something between those two that he cannot—or will not—understand. Because who in their right mind would fall in love with the villain?? (We book girlies, of course!!)

Ā

The last third of the book surpassed ALL my expectations. Tahereh gave us angst, tension, and I honestly didn’t think the kiss was going to happen in this book—but I was completely trapped by their dynamics. Still, never in my wildest dreams did I think the tension would skyrocket with that last resource.
Binding Alizeh and Cyrus physically, having a wedding, and yet making Cyrus the unluckiest man on earth… The plot thickens!!! Telenovelas are NOTHING compared to this level of tension.

Ā

Overall, the best book in the series, with every piece now set in place in preparation for book 4.

Frequently Asked Questions

It’s a Persian-inspired fantasy romance following Alizeh, a servant girl hiding a royal secret she’s the lost heir to the Jinn throne. Her fate collides with Prince Kamran, the human heir sworn to destroy her kind, and a prophecy that could bring both their worlds to ruin.

Nope šŸ™‚
This Woven Kingdom is completely separate from Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me series. You don’t need any prior knowledge. This world, lore, and characters are entirely new.

Absolutely, it’s a romantasy, meaning romance and fantasy are central to the story. Expect court intrigue, emotional longing, tension and ANGST like you’ve never experienced before.

Yes, a deliciously complicated one. It starts as a forbidden romance between Alizeh and Prince Kamran, but Cyrus’s entrance in the first book turns everything upside down. By book two, the tension between all three is at full slow-burn capacity.

Every SPiral of Fate is NOT the last book in the series. So far we have:

This Woven Kingdom (2022)

These Infinite Threads (2023)

All This Twisted Glory (2024)

Every Spiral of Fate (2025)

The series is marketed as YA/NA romantasy, meaning it’s suitable for young adult readers but has a mature tone, complex political intrigue, and emotional intensity that also appeal to adult fantasy fans.

This Woven Kingdom it’s a clean romance series. But don’t let that fool you: it’s full of slow-burn tension, longing, and forbidden attraction

Cyrus is the King of Tulan who appears at the end of the first book. He’s mysterious, powerful, morally grey, and arrives at the end of the first book killing the Ardunian king and kidnapping Alisteh in the process.
We love him because he is a tormented antihero and is totally obsessed with Alisteh

Every Spiral of Fate, the fourth book in the This Woven Kingdom series was released on 30 September 2025

Every Spiral of Fate is NOT the last book in the series. We will have to wait a little bit more for the series finale (Every Spiral of Fate is the fourth books in the series)

Highly recommended! THis Woven Kingdom is rich in worldbuilding and politics. If it’s been a while since you read All This Twisted Glory, you’ll want a quick recap (and yes, I’ve got you covered, check my full This Woven Kingdom recap guide! ).

Every Spiral of Fate is not the final book in the This Woven Kingdom series, so Tahereh Mafi hasn’t confirmed Alizeh’s true endgame love interest. However, everything so far strongly suggests that Cyrus is the one destined for her.
