Winter and autumn are definitely my favourite seasons for reading fantasy romance, or fantasy in general.
I thought it would be a wonderful idea to create a MEGA POST featuring what I consider must-have accessories for winter reading. (It took me AGES to finish it haha, I’m very serious when it comes to curating items!)
I’ve also included some book recommendations at the end, along with reading tech that can be used all year long.
I’m sure you’ll find some of the items incredibly useful, giving you plenty of ideas to enhance your reading sessions and give an aesthetic touch to your reading nook.

Unique Book Nooks to decorate your bookshelf

The Magic Library has a wonderfully dark academia vibe, whilst the Faery Garden is simply whimsical. And they come with lights!
Book Cart
Let’s be honest… our TBRs are gigantic and overflowing with titles. With this cart, you can keep your “immediate TBR,” as I like to call it, close by for a cosy winter reading session. It’s not a bad idea to include your DNFs here either… who knows? Maybe seeing them waiting for you will increase your chances of picking them up again. Haha!.
Winter Reading inspired Wall Art Prints
Ahh… Velaris, the most magical place in A Court of Thorn and Roses ACOTAR, and the perfect art print for winter. The ACOTAR books feature multiple descriptions of Velaris in winter, and I can’t help but wish it truly existed (and Rhysand, of course!).
Winter-Themed Books
Short Fantasy Romance Novels
Spectacular and A Court of Frost and Starlight (ACOFAS) are short novellas written as an addition to their respective series.
Both have wintry vibes, making them the perfect read for this season.
ACOFAS takes place just after the events in A Court of Wings and Ruin
Spectacular follows a same pattern. A holiday novella that takes place after the series ending. And as is typical of everything that Stephanie Garber writes.(one of my fav authors!!) the novella is FULL OF GORGEOUS ART DESIGNS inside.
Definitely a must have!!
Clean Winter romance fairytales
These three books are the epitome of winter reads. They have an incredibly immersive feel, and the stories are like magical fairy tales.
Spinning Silver features delightful and lyrical writing.
The Bear and the Nightingale masterfully blends Russian folklore with magic.
Wintersong is perfect for fans of the Labyrinth movie (our villain-turned-love-interest is none other than The Goblin King, just like in Labyrinth!).
Cosy ( and spicy ) winter-themed rom-coms
My favourite rom-com reads for winter! Lovelight Farms isn’t as spicy as Window Shopping (Tessa Bailey is famously known for writing extra spicy rom-coms), but both are incredibly cosy and cute.
Both love interests are total cinnamon rolls—super sweet and caring, but with a delightfully wicked side in bed.
My Top Picks: Winter Reading Essentials
Reading Essentials I Cannot Live Without:
- Decorations for my bookshelves: I have my books organised by colour, and a book nook is a wonderful addition to maintain the fairytale aesthetic.
- A book light: It’s glorious for night reading! I take special care to avoid straining my eyes by never using dim lights. With this focused light, I don’t need to rely on the main lamp.
- A warm blanket: For long, chilly reading sessions, a cosy blanket is an absolute must. I simply cannot relax anywhere without keeping my feet covered!
