flatlay with a book and a spring tematic

There is nothing I enjoy more than curating Book Lists. It’s my favourite part of blogging. Yes, I love writing reviews, but just finding the perfect fit for a specific List is something I enjoy so much!

Ā

This Book List was made with the Spring season in mind.

Ā

Each book in this List is a fairytale, and they all share several common elements:

  • Lush atmosphere
  • Whimsical and magical settings and characters
  • Cozy vibes

Some titles within this List lean more towards the gothic side, while others offer vivid and low-stakes stories.

Ā

Still, all of them focus heavily on romance and are perfect fit for this season.

Table of Contents

Nineteen-year-old Signa Farrow, orphaned as a baby, has been raised by a string of guardians, each more interested in her wealth than her well-beingā€”and each has met an untimely end. Her last remaining relatives are the Hawthornes, an eccentric family living at the glittering and gloomy estate of Thorn Grove. Thorn Groveā€™s patriarch, Elijah, mourns his late wife, Lillian, through wild parties and drink, while eldest son Percy grapples for control of the familyā€™s waning reputation and daughter Blythe suffers from the same mysterious illness that killed her mother. And when Lillianā€™s spirit confronts Signa and claims she was poisoned, Signa realizes that Blythe could be next to die.

Signaā€™s best chance of uncovering the culprit and solving Lillianā€™s murder is an alliance with Death himselfā€”the very man she hates most. And Death, that fascinating, dangerous shadow who has never been far from her side, shows her that their connection may be more powerful than she ever dared imagine.

Stephanie Garber’s books are well known for having a whimsical atmosphere where anything is possible.

They are perfect fairytales with a touch of darkness and wicked elements. The author herself has expressed multiple times her fondness for the spring season and her love for beautiful dresses.

Ā

Her protagonists always wear exquisite dresses with lots of flowers and decorations and the worldbuilding in her books is always described with rich and vibrant colours. (Perhaps periwinkle is her favorite color?

It’s mentioned numerous times throughout her books.)

Ā

If you’re looking for all the spring vibes, pick up any series by Stephanie Garber. She epitomizes the essence of this Book List.

Tana Fairchild’s fate has never been in question. Her life has been planned out since the moment she was born: she is to marry the governor’s son, Landon, and secure an unprecedented alliance between the witches of her island home and the mainlanders who see her very existence as a threat.

Tana’s coven has appeased those who fear their power for years by releasing most of their magic into the ocean during the full moon. But when Tana misses the midnight ritualā€”a fatal mistakeā€”there is no one she can turn to for helpā€¦until she meets Wolfe.

Wolfe claims he is from a coven that practices dark magic, making him one of the only people who can help her. But he refuses to let Tana’s power rush into the sea, and instead teaches her his forbidden magic. A magic that makes her feel powerful. Alive.

As the sea grows more violent, her coven loses control of the currents, a danger that could destroy the alliance as well as her island. Tana will have to choose between love and duty, between loyalty to her people and loyalty to her heart. Marrying Landon would secure peace for her coven but losing Wolfe and his wild magic could cost her everything else.

Bring Me Your Midnight is a whimsical fairytale centred around witches, featuring a lush atmosphere with a cozy nature vibe. Did I mention there are two love interests?

Ā

While it’s not quite a love triangle, it shares a similar dynamic to the romance in Fourth Wing and Acotar.

Nickolas Brigham was meant to marry a princess. Everyone said so. His mother, mostly, but it wasnā€™t the time to quibble.
If he doesn’t marry a woman of station soon, heā€™ll be tied to a fate worse than ruination. When heā€™s dragged bodily into a compromising situation, his only choice is to accept the aid of the doe-eyed damsel he chances upon in his attempt at escape.
But Jules is no meek maiden. Sheā€™s clever and quick, and has terms of her own: Nickolas must vow to break her curse before the fae prince comes to collect his due. Yes, only that, and the minor feat of fooling the kingdom by faking their betrothal.
