Demons, witches and murder mysteries. Super spicy Hades & Persephone retelling. Spice level: 3/5

Ā One night, Vittoria misses dinner service at the family’s renowned Sicilian restaurant. Emilia soon finds the body of her beloved twin…desecrated beyond belief. Devastated, Emilia sets out to find her sister’s killer and to seek vengeance at any cost-even if it means using dark magic that’s been long forbidden.

Why you should read it

ā€œWhatever you do, you must never speak to the Wicked. If you see them, hide. Once youā€™ve caught a demon princeā€™s attention, heā€™ll stop at nothing to claim you.ā€

Super popular among the book community, this enemies-to-lovers story is an absolute delight.

It’s got Italian vibes, demons, and witches. Think of it as a sort of Hades and Persephone retelling but with tons of spice and those well-loved tropes like “Who did this to you,” plus an incredibly possessive šŸ˜ love interest.

It’s waaay spicier than Fourth Wing, so I’m pretty confident it’ll meet all your expectations.šŸ˜ŠĀ

Also from the same author:

More spicy books like Fourth Wing with vampires!! šŸ˜

I donā€™t know about you, but when Iā€™m craving some seriously spicy reads, I lean towards vampire stories. Because there is nothing more appealing than a guy who loves you AND wants to bite you for different reasons.šŸ˜

ā€œYou dishonor her,ā€ he said. Adrian offered a shrewd smile. ā€œIn what way? By fucking her against a wall? It feels like worship to me.ā€

King of Battle and Blood has it all – forced marriage, enemies to lovers and the classic forced proximity trope. Get ready for a hefty dose of smut and steamy scenes for your enjoyment.

Spicy Enemies to lovers AND student-teacher romance with witches and demons. Spice level 5/5!!

Raised to be my fatherā€™s weapon against the Coven that took away his sister and his birthright, I would do anything to protect my younger brother from suffering the same fate. My duty forces me to the secret town of Crystal Hollow and the prestigious Hollowā€™s Grove University.

Ā

The only animosity I face comes from the beautiful and infuriating Headmaster, Alaric Grayson Thorne, a man who despises me just as much as I loathe him and everything he stands for.

Ā

Why you should read it

The Coven is all about witches and dark academia vibes. Is an enemies to lovers –student teacher romance with spice.

ā€œHe was beautiful and infuriatingā€”a disaster waiting to happen.ā€

Willow, our heroine, is a badass witch who, in order to protect her brother, is forced to enter Hollowā€™s Grove University.

Ā

However, this school stands for everything she and her defunct mother hate from the Witch World and the infuriating but handsome headmaster, Alaric Thorne, will do anything in his power to force Willow to change her mind.

Perfect if you are looking for dark gothic vibes and a steamy forbidden romance in a school setting.

The book that started it all. A super satisfying spicy slow-burn romance.

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a terrifying creature arrives to demand retribution.Ā  Feyre discovers that her captor is not truly a beast, but one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled her world.

At least, he’s not a beast all the time.

Ā

As she adapts to her new home, her feelings for the faerie, Tamlin, transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But something is not right in the faerie lands. An ancient, wicked shadow is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it, or doom Tamlin-and his world-forever.

Why you should read it

Iā€™m sure you have heard about this one!!

In a world divided between humans and Fae by an invisible Wall, Feyre lives near the border with her poor family. She is the only one capable of using a bow and providing food for her sisters and crippled father.

One day, when hunting in the woods, she encounters a big wolf and of course, she kills him.

Ā

But little did she know that this wolf was a Fae, and his leader wanted revenge, so he took Feyre to the Spring Court to be his prisoner.

A Courth of Thorn and Roses ( ACOTAR) Is a slow burn and and a fan favorite

ā€œThis beast was not a man, not a lesser faerie. He was one of the High Fae, one of their ruling nobility: beautiful, lethal, and merciless.ā€

Acotar is a preparation for the second, when the real story begins. Contrary to most people, I love the first book more than the second, but they’re both gems and a must-read for any new fantasy romance reader.

Ā

The opening book sets the stage for the second one, A Court of Mist and Fury ( I reread these two at least twice a year ), where the true story unfolds.

This series is aĀ  gem and a must-read for every new fantasy romance reader.

The best YA enemies-to-lovers. Badass heroine. Political intrigues. Spice Level: 1/5

Of course I want to be like them. They’re beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever.

And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.

Ā

As Jude grows older, she realises that she will need to take part in the dangerous deceptions of the fey to ever truly belong.

But the stairway to power is fraught with shadows and betrayal. And looming over all is the infuriating, arrogant and charismatic Prince Cardan . . .

Why you should read it

A very popular book in the romantasy community. In The Cruel Prince we meet Jude, an ordinary human girl who was raised by a ruthless Fae general.

With the help of his stepfather, she learns the art of the sword and tries to avoid becoming a victim in the cruel Elfhame Kingdom.

Ā

Cardan is the youngest heir to the Crown, and with his pompous friends, he will try to make Jude and her twin sister’s life impossible in hopes of them going back to the human world.

ā€œCardan grins at me as though we’ve been great friends all our lives. I forgot how charming he can be–and how dangerous that is.ā€

This book is perfect if you enjoy reading fantasy romances with fairy tale vibes. Often called ‘cozy fantasies, or ” soft fantasies” the plot is simple yet effective, and it has a whimsical charm that will make you want to immerse yourself in the magic world of Elfhame.

Spicy Bully romance with faes in an academic setting and Harry Potter vibes. Spice level: 3/5

Iā€™m a Gemini. Impulsive. Curious. Headstrong. A twin. Heir to a throne I know nothing about. And it turns out, Iā€™m Fae.

Ā

But of course thereā€™s a catch – all I have to do to claim my birth right is prove that Iā€™m the most powerful supernatural in the whole of Solaria. And sure, technically thatā€™s true as Iā€™m the daughter of the Savage King. But the bit they didnā€™t put in the brochure was that every single Fae in this Kingdom would claim my throne if they could.

Ā

The school theyā€™ve sent me to is both dangerous as sh*t and one helluva party. Vampires bite weaker students in the corridors, the Werewolf pack has orgies in the Wailing Wood at every full moon and donā€™t even get me started on the dark and twisted ways the Sirens use their powers on peopleā€™s emotions, or how my sinfully tempting Cardinal Magic teacher hosts detentions that leave people needing therapy.

Ā

Classes are totally interesting if you manage to live through them. And that Gemini star sign I mentioned? It now determines my elemental magic and affects my destiny, so learning astrology is essential if Iā€™m going to beat down my classmates ā€“ which is actively encouraged by the way.

Ā

My biggest problem is the drool worthy Dragon shifter who has his eyes on my throne. He and his three psycho friends are determined to make my time here hell.

Ā

All Iā€™ve got to do is survive. But fate might have other ideas.

Ā

Dammit, why couldnā€™t I have gotten a letter to Hogwarts?

ā€œHe was dangerous in all the right ways and I knew without doubt that the fire in his eyes would burn me up if I strayed too close.ā€

Ā

ā€œWhy are the hot ones always jerks?ā€

Why you should read it

Zodiac Academy is a dark bully romance about Tory and Darcy, two twins who are the rightful heirs to the throne of Solaria. Theyā€™ve been living in the human world totally ignorant about their past.

Ā

Now they must attend the academy in this new world; every one hates them.

Ā

The school has strong Howards vibes, and each student belongs to a different House. The House they are in will depend on the power of the student. Like Harry Potter, each house gains or lose points based on the student behavior, tournaments and contests.

Ā

Off course you can expect a lot of romance, spice and intrigue.

Twilight vibes. Vampires werewolfs and romance. Spice level 1/5

My whole world changed when I stepped inside the academy. Nothing is right about this place or the other students in it. Here I am, a mere mortal among godsā€¦or monsters. I still canā€™t decide which of these warring factions I belong to, if I belong at all. I only know the one thing that unites them is their hatred of me.

Then thereā€™s Jaxon Vega. A vampire with deadly secrets who hasnā€™t felt anything for a hundred years. But thereā€™s something about him that calls to me, something broken in him that somehow fits with whatā€™s broken in me.
Which could spell death for us all.

Because Jaxon walled himself off for a reason. And now someone wants to wake a sleeping monster, and Iā€™m wondering if I was brought here intentionallyā€”as the bait.

ā€œHe turns me inside out with a look, destroys me with a kiss.ā€

Ā

ā€œOh Edward, I love you so much! Whoops, I mean Jaxon.ā€

Why you should read it

Crave is a young adult high school paranormal romance.

Ā

The story follows Grace a 17-year-old who moves from San Diego to Denali, Alaska to live with her uncle who happens to be the headmaster of her new school.

Ā

There she meets a lot of curious students who definitely are not human AT ALL, and among them is a sexy vampire named Jaxon Vega.

For some, better than the main series. Hades and Persephone retelling with spice. Spice level 4.5/5

Born shrouded in the veil of the Primals, a Maiden as the Fates promised, Seraphena Mierelā€™s future has never been hers.Ā ChosenĀ before birth to uphold the desperate deal her ancestor struck to save his people, Sera must leave behind her life and offer herself to the Primal of Death as his Consort.

However, Seraā€™s real destiny is the most closely guarded secret in all of Lasaniaā€”sheā€™s not the well protected Maiden but an assassin with one missionā€”one target. Make the Primal of Death fall in love, become his weakness, and thenā€¦end him. If she fails, she dooms her kingdom to a slow demise at the hands of the Rot.

Sera has always known what she is. Chosen. Consort. Assassin. Weapon. A specter never fully formed yet drenched in blood. AĀ monster. UntilĀ him.Ā Until the Primal of Deathā€™s unexpected words and deeds chase away the darkness gathering inside her. And his seductive touch ignites a passion sheā€™s never allowed herself to feel and cannot feel for him. But Sera has never had a choice. Either way, her life is forfeitā€”it always has been, as she has been forever touched by Life and Death.

ā€œYou interest me because there seems to be little time between what occurs in your head and what comes out of your mouth. And there seems to be little regard for the consequences.ā€

ā€œHe was like the brightest star and the deepest night sky given mortal form. And he was utterly beautiful in this form, wholly terrifying.ā€

Why you should read it

If you’re wondering what to read after Fourth Wing and are in search of a book with romance and steamy scenes, this one is for you..

Ā

The companion- prequel from the Blood and Ash series.

Ā

I picked A Shadow in the Ember instead of the main series because I really love the main male character, Niktos. His relationship with Sera is so unique and the make a wonderful couple.

Niktos is a complex character and I enjoyed reading about his insecurities and fears.

Ā

He is so attached to Sera in ways that not even he wants to acknowledge and this makes their relationship full of angst and tension.

Books like Fourth Wing and Acotar

These are books that I wholeheartedly recommend reading after finishing ACOTAR and Fourth Wing.

Ā

These fantasy romances are packed with magic, enemies-to-lovers themes, and – in some cases – full of spicy scenes. What sets them apart from the category above is that you’re guaranteed to find one or both of the following elements in the story:Ā

Ā

  • Two love interests fighting for the heroine
  • An over-the-top cliffhanger

Ā

You can’t go wrong picking ANY of them as your next read!

Rivals to lovers, hidden identities, and letters. BIG cliffhanger. Spice level: 1/5

When two young rival journalists find love through a magical connection, they must face the depths of hell, in a war among gods, to seal their fate forever.

After centuries of sleep, the gods are warring again. But eighteen-year-old Iris Winnow just wants to hold her family together. Her mother is suffering from addiction and her brother is missing from the front lines. Her best bet is to win the columnist promotion at the Oath Gazette.

To combat her worries, Iris writes letters to her brother and slips them beneath her wardrobe door, where they vanishā€•into the hands of Roman Kitt, her cold and handsome rival at the paper. When he anonymously writes Iris back, the two of them forge a connection that will follow Iris all the way to the front lines of battle: for her brother, the fate of mankind, and love.

“She hated how handsome he was. She hated how her heart softened when he looked at her.”

Ā

ā€œHe was thinking about her far too much, and he knew this was going to doom him.ā€

Why you should read it

If you are looking for books similar to ‘Fourth Wing’ with romance and war scenarios, all mixed with a pinch of fantasy, you don’t want to miss this book!!

Ā

It features office enemies-to-lovers, with a love interest who is capable of turning the world upside down for her, and a HUGE cliffhanger at the end that will leave you wanting to read the next book ASAP.”

Ā

I have a very detailed Divine Rivals guide in case you want more information about this wonderful series.

ACOTAR + Fourth Wing slow burn romance. Spice level: 3.5/5

FREE THE CROWS, FALLON, AND THEY WILL MAKE YOU QUEEN.

Until an oracle predicted my regal future, I’d never imagined myself rising above the curve of my round ears. After all, I was the magicless halfling loved by beasts but loathed by every pure-blooded faerie at court. Well . . . by all but one.

Dante Regio, prince of Luce, had owned my heart since he gave me my first kiss. If gathering a slew of iron relics could help me overthrow the current monarch and crown his brother to rule at my side, then treasure hunting I’d go.

If only the oracle had warned me what winged demon I was releasing into the world.

And that I’d become this demon’s obsession.

ā€œFlattery wonā€™t get me to say yes, Antoni.ā€ ā€œWhat will, then? Pearls? Iā€™ll brave the serpents in Mareluce to bring you jewels, if thatā€™s what it takes.ā€

Why you should read it

A relatively new release by an indie author, this series is a slow-burn romance with a morally grey main male character.

Ā

Our heroine is in love with Dante Regio, the Prince of Luce, but to be together, she is sent on a quest to retrieve powerful relics. Little does she know that she will encounter other creatures on the way who will make her doubt her real purpose.

Ā

This book has two love interests and similar to Gild and A Court of Thorn and Roses, the second love interest is introduced properly later on in the story.Ā

Two love interests, possessive and dark hero. Very spicy (4.5/5)

Destiny or desire?

Where does your allegiance lie?

I am told my union to the crowned prince will determine the fate of the kingdom, but it isnā€™t my betrothed who haunts my dreams. Itā€™s the half-breed prince who stands at his side.

He is darkness and sin, and when he whispers promises of wickedness in my ear, I crave a man who I canā€™t have.

Every thought I have is treasonous. The way my hands ache to touch him deceitful.

Even my dreams make me a traitor to the kingdom I am sworn to protect.

But when the kingdom is attacked, I am forced to make choices Iā€™m not prepared for. Our lies and deception are entangled in the shadows and stars, and as they unravel so shall my fate. Betray a kingdom or betray my heart.

ā€œIt doesnā€™t matter that you are destined to be his. Every part of you is begging to be mine.ā€

Ā

ā€œEvery thought I have of you is treasonous, the way my hands ache to touch you, deceitful. Even my dreams make me a traitor of my own kingdom.ā€

If you are wondering what to read after Fourth Wing that has a love triangle in a world with Fae, princes, fangs and court intrigue, A Kingdom of Stars and Shadows is the right Book for you.

Ā

Our heroine Adara is the betrothed of the crowned Prince, a beautiful Fae who tries to make Adara comfortable in her new role.

Ā

But nothing is what it seems, and of course, the half-brother who is the black sheep of the familyĀ makes an appearance to make our heroine doubt her duty and tempt her to betray the Kingdom.

If you want to read about two brothers fighting for the love of a girl, this one is definitely for you.

Two love interests, and a villain book boyfriend who will burn the world for you. Spice level: 4/5

The fae abandoned this world to us. And the ones with power rule.

Gold.

Gold floors, gold walls, gold furniture, gold clothes. In Highbell, in the castle built into the frozen mountains, everything is made of gold.

Even me.

King Midas rescued me. Dug me out of the slums and placed me on a pedestal. Iā€™m called his precious. His favored. Iā€™m the woman he Gold-Touched to show everyone that I belong to him. To show how powerful he is. He gave me protection, and I gave him my heart. And even though I donā€™t leave the confines of the palace, Iā€™m safe.

Until war comes to the kingdom and a deal is struck.

Suddenly, my trust is broken. My love is challenged, and I realize that everything I thought I knew about Midas might be wrong.

Because these bars Iā€™m kept in, no matter how gilded, are still just a cage.

But the monsters on the other side might make me wish Iā€™d never left.

ā€œA cage is a cage, no matter how gilded.ā€

Ā

ā€œAre you a princess?ā€ an older girl asks, but I smile and shake my head. ā€œNo. Are you?ā€ The children all scoff together, trading looks. ā€œYou think princesses live in the shanties like street urchins?ā€ I lower my hood and give her a conspiratorial smile. ā€œMaybe hidden princesses do.ā€

Why you should read it

This is the story of Auren, a girl who lives to please his saviour, King Midas. Midas loves her to the point of obsession, and he literally has Auren prisoner in a gilded cage.

Ā

This series is a slow burn full of plot twists, with two love interests (but you will have to wait a little to meet the second one ).

Ā

Believe me, when I say is TOTALLY WORTH THE WAIT Because the other guyā€¦šŸ˜

He will burn the whole for her. Love triangle like Acotar. Spice: 2/5

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering warā€”and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

ā€œI am no oneā€™s property. And I donā€™t care what Warner wants me to look like.ā€

Ā

ā€œI was jealous. Ridiculous. I wanted her to know me; I wanted her to talk to me.ā€

Shatter Me starts in a dystopian future and our protagonist Juliette can kill people only by touching them. She is rescued by the leader of a military section to be used as a weapon.

Ā

Although the story begins as a dystopian fantasy, it quickly turns into a slow-burn romance with one of the best love triangles ever done in a Young Adult book.

Ā

We met the first love interest in the first book, and I have to say he is quite similar to Dain.

Ā

Be prepared to feel all the angst and tension between these 3!!

Strong Acotar vibes. Two love interests. Fae Courts. Spice level: 2/5

Brie would do anything before making a deal with the Fae; death is better than their vicious schemes. But when her sister is taken by the sadistic king of the Unseelie court, there is nothing Brie wouldn’t do to get her back-including making a deal with the king himself to steal three magical relics from the rival Seelie court.

Gaining unfettered access to the Seelie court is easier said than done. Brie’s only choice is to pose as a potential bride for the Seelie Prince, Ronan-a prince who’s not quite as wicked as she once thought. Unwilling to let her heart distract her, she accepts help from a band of Unseelie misfits with their own secret agenda. But as Brie spends time with their mysterious leader, Finn, she finds herself struggling to resist his seductive charm.

Caught between two dangerous courts, Brie must decide who to trust with her loyalty . . . and with her heart.

ā€œEasy, Princess, focus on the magic. When weā€™re out of here, you can go back to imagining all the ways you want my hands on you.ā€

Ā

ā€œI am mad with jealousy. I’ve been losing my mind here thinking he might be stealing your heart. I tried to tell myself that all I really care about is the security of my kingdom, when in truth’ – he bends over and touches his forehead to mine – ‘in truth, I’ve put you before my kingdom for a long time now.ā€

This duology is very similar to A Kingdom of Stars and Shadows, and like Fourth Wing it has an (almost) love triangle between Brie, her friend Sebastian ( who she has had a crush since forever ) and the leader of the Unseelie Court.

Ā

This book is one of my favourites and is full of plot twists and romance. Definitely give it a try!!

Vampires meet The Hunger Games.BIG cliffhanger. Spice level: 3.5/5

Two sisters. One brutal murder.Ā A quest for vengeance that will unleash Hell itself…Ā And an intoxicating romance.Ā Emilia and her twin sister Vittoria areĀ stregheĀ —Ā witches who live secretly among humans, avoiding notice and persecution. One night, Vittoria misses dinner service at the family’s renowned Sicilian restaurant. Emilia soon finds the body of her beloved twin…desecrated beyond belief. Devastated, Emilia sets out to find her sister’s killer and to seek vengeance at any cost-even if it means using dark magic that’s been long forbidden.Ā Then Emilia meets Wrath, one of the Wicked-princes of Hell she has been warned against in tales since she was a child. Wrath claims to be on Emilia’s side, tasked by his master with solving the series of women’s murders on the island. But when it comes to the Wicked, nothing is as it seems…

ā€œWhatever you do, you must never speak to the Wicked. If you see them, hide. Once youā€™ve caught a demon princeā€™s attention, heā€™ll stop at nothing to claim you.ā€

Why you should read it

If youā€™re on the hunt for a spicy book like Fourth Wing, but with vampires, then these two last books are definitely your cup of tea.

Ā

ā€œThe Serpent and the Wings of Nightā€ shares a lotĀ in common with Fourth Wing. The setting is quite similar, featuring a high-stakes competition reminiscent of The Hunger Games, and a morally grey character who canā€™t seem to stay away from our heroine.

Ā

This series serves up heaps of tension and angst between our protagonist and a MASSIVE plot twist thatā€™ll have you reaching for the second book asap.

Ā

The best part Ā is that this series is a COMPLETE duology and both books are available on Kindle Unlimited

Fantasy Romance Books like Fourth Wing with Dragons

This is a curated List of the most interesting books like Fourth Wing with Dragons.

I took special care in adding to this List of books where dragons have a special bond with their raiders. Some of them are fantasy romances, and others are more fantasy-oriented with a romance subplot.

Ā

So, if you’re unsure about what to read after Fourth Wing and are looking for titles that feature badass dragons, check these ones out :)!

Dragons and Riders have similar bonds as in Fourth Wing. Telepathic abilities

On a beautiful world called Pern, an ancient way of life is about to come under attack from a myth that is all too real. Lessa is an outcast survivorā€”her parents murdered, her birthright stolenā€”a strong young woman who has never stopped dreaming of revenge. But when an ancient threat to Pern reemerges, Lessa will riseā€”upon the back of a great dragon with whom she shares a telepathic bond more intimate than any human connection. Together, dragon and rider will fly . . . and Pern will be changed forever.

ā€œLessa was Ramoth’s and Ramoth was hers, mind and heart, irrevocably attuned. Only death could dissolve that incredible bond.ā€

If you are looking for a series with the same dynamics between dragons and their riders as Fourth Wing, pick this one.

Ā

Dragonriders of Pern is a sci-fi fantasy romance and tells the story of Leesa, the sole survivor of a noble family who is bonded to the only queen dragon in all Pern and Fā€™lar, the main male character who is a wingleader and rider as well. (Yes, you read well, wingleader and here it means the same as in Fourth Wing)

Ā

The dragons in this story come in several colours and selected young humans are taken to the Hatchling grounds to be ā€œbonded ā€œwith the dragons. (Sounds familiar? Hehe)

Ā

Once a dragon ā€œimpresses ā€œa rider, they are forever bonded and can communicate through telepathic abilities.

Ā

There is another similarity between Dragons of Pern and Fourth Wing. When the female dragon is in heat, the mating fight begins and this passion telepathically transfers itself to their male and female riders, making them all horny.

Forbidden romance between a dragon girl and a human

hese mortal enemies are locked in secret and deadly combat, with humanity none the wiser.

To take her rightful place in the Talon organisation, young dragon Ember Hill must prove she can hide her true nature and blend in with humans. Her delight at the prospect of a summer of ā€œnormalā€ teen experiences is short-lived, however, once she discovers that sheā€™s also expected to train for her destined career in Talon. But a chance meeting with a rogue dragon will soon challenge everything Ember has been taught.

As Ember struggles to accept her future, St. George soldier Garret Xavier Sebastian is tasked with hunting her down. But when faced with Emberā€™s bravery, confidence and all-too-human desires, Garret begins to question everything the Order has ingrained in him ā€“ and what he might be willing to give up to uncover the truth about dragons.

ā€œI found myself hating him, wanting to hurt him, to drive him away from the red-haired girl who was supposed to be mine.
Breathless, I slumped to the wall, numb with the realization. This anger, these illogical feelings of rage and possessiveness…I was jealous. I was jealous of a girl I was supposed to be stalking, seducing, for the sole purpose of revealing her true nature. This had become more than an objective, more than a mission.
I was falling for her.ā€

If you are looking for dragons and romance you need to check this one. Talon is an enemies to lovers- forbidden romance, where dragons take human form.

Ā

Our heroine Ember is a dragon, and she falls in love with a human. But they both need to keep their secrets apart from each other and try to not let this forbidden romance grow.

Annie and Lee were just children when a brutal revolution changed their world, giving everyoneā€”even the lowbornā€”a chance to test into the governing class of dragonriders.

Now they are both rising stars in the new regime, despite backgrounds that couldn’t be more different. Annie’s lowborn family was executed by dragonfire, while Lee’s aristocratic family was murdered by revolutionaries. Growing up in the same orphanage forged their friendship, and seven years of training have made them rivals for the top position in the dragonriding fleet.

But everything changes when survivors from the old regime surface, bent on reclaiming the city.

With war on the horizon and his relationship with Annie changing fast, Lee must choose to kill the only family he has left or to betray everything he’s come to believe in. And Annie must decide whether to protect the boy she loves . . . or step up to be the champion her city needs.

ā€œBring what fury you have and I will answer it with ours.ā€

This book is labeled as ā€œGame of Thrones meets Fourth Wingā€.

Ā

Fireborne is a young adult fantasy with a romantic subplot (friends to lovers+ slow burn). You get all the intrigue and politics from ā€œA Song of Ice and Fire “AND the morally grey characters because nobody is completely good or bad here.

Ā

Our protagonists Lee and Annie are orphans and friends, and they are training hard for the same positions as dragonriders.

Ā

In this world, the dragons are of vital importance to win wars and Annie and Lee will have to decide if their friendship is more important than their duty.

Holt Cook was never meant to be a dragon rider. He has always served the Order Hall of the Crag dutifully, keeping their kitchen pots clean.

Ā

Until he discovers a dark secret: dragons do not tolerate weakness among their kin, killing the young they deem flawed. Moved by pity, Holt defies the Order, rescues a doomed egg and vows to protect the blind dragon within.

Ā

But the Scourge is rising. Undead hordes roam the land, spreading the blight and leaving destruction in their wake. The dragon riders are being slaughtered and betrayal lurks in the shadows.

.

This is a YA (young adult ) novel. The story is about the bond between Holt, a cook with no rider training and his blind dragon Ash.

Ā

Dragonriders are part of an Order and they are dedicated fighters against the Scourge ( a plague that can lead to the dead rising )

Ā

In this world, only the most perfect dragon eggs are allowed to hatch, and the rest are discarded.

Ā

Holt gets attached to an egg that was going to be discarded. A blind dragon is born from it and now Holt must hide his dragon from the order and take care of him the best he can.

Ā

As time passes, their bond become stronger and Ash shows special powers no other dragon has.

If you are looking for books like Fourth Wing with a dragon-human bond (like the one between Violet and Andarna,) look no further and pick this one!!

Aerial combat brings a thrilling new dimension to the Napoleonic Wars as valiant warriors rise to Britainā€™s defense by taking to the skies . . . not aboard aircraft but atop the mighty backs of fighting dragons.

When HMSĀ ReliantĀ captures a French frigate and seizes its precious cargo, an unhatched dragon egg, fate sweeps Capt. Will Laurence from his seafaring life into an uncertain futureā€“and an unexpected kinship with a most extraordinary creature. Thrust into the rarified world of the Aerial Corps as master of the dragon Temeraire, he will face a crash course in the daring tactics of airborne battle. For as Franceā€™s own dragon-borne forces rally to breach British soil in Bonaparteā€™s boldest gambit, Laurence and Temeraire must soar into their own baptism of fire.

ā€œI should rather have you than a heap of gold, even if it were very comfortable to sleep on.ā€

Ā

ā€œDragon intelligence was a mystery to men who made a study of the subject; he had no idea how much the dragon would hear or understand, but thought it better to avoid the risk of giving offense.ā€

This one is fresh and very interesting. An historical fantasy during the Napoleonic wars, meet Will Laurence, Captain of the British Army, who finds a dragon egg in a French ship. He later leaves the Navy and joins the Aerial Corps as a Dragon rider to fight the enemy.

Ā

Look no further if you are looking for a book like Fourth Wing with the ā€œboy trains his dragonā€ trope.Ā

You can expect talking dragons (yay!) bonding, found family and battle sequences!

Academy vibes with dragons. Trials and angst

Dragon School is the epic dragon rider series you donā€™t want to miss. Combining dramatic dragon battles, breath-taking adventures, magical creatures, and heart-pounding suspense, this tale will warm your heart and keep you flipping pages.
This omnibus edition contains episodes 1-5 of the popular novella series:
Dragon School: First FlightĀ Can disabled Amel conquer the deadly challenge of riding a fierce dragon?
Dragon School: InitiateĀ Magic comes to Dragon School. Can it be trusted?
Dragon School: The Dark PrinceĀ Who says all handsome princes are charming?
Dragon School: The Ruby IslesĀ Rules and threats aren’t enough to stop Amel when her friends need her.
Dragon School: SwornĀ Things are heating up for Amel and Raolcan and not just because flames are flying in every direction!

Why you should read it

The Dragon School series are short novellas ( no more than 100 pages ) and begin with the story of Amel, who like Violet in Fourth Wing, has a disability but is determined to be a dragonrider.

Ā

She enters the academy and befriends a purple dragon, Rouclan, but in order to be her rider, she must first complete dangerous trials and tests.

When fifteen-year-old Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.

Overnight his simple life is shattered, and, gifted with only an ancient sword, a loyal dragon, and sage advice from an old storyteller, Eragon is soon swept into a dangerous tapestry of magic, glory, and power. Now his choices could saveā€”or destroyā€”the Empire.

ā€œSaphira to Eragon: “If anything happens, Iā€™m going to pin you to my back and never let you off.
Eragon: I love you too.
Saphira: Then I will bind you all the tighter.
ā€

I almost left this one out of the List because it is the most obvious choice. But hey! Maybe you are not familiar with it and it is to your liking šŸ˜Š

Ā

Eragon is a middle school book about a 15 year old farm boy (Eragon ) who finds a blue stone in the forest. He brings it back home and realizes the beautiful stone is a hatching egg.

Ā

He learns how to take care of his new dragon ( Saphira, a female dragon ) but when a tragedy befalls, Eragon is forced to go on a quest to save the Empire.

Ā

As a curious fact, the author wrote this book when he was 15 years old.
