This Post is all about Books for Father’s Day ( he’ll actually read! )
Father’s Day is approaching, and finding the perfect gift for our dads can be a challenge.
If you’re looking to step outside the usual gifts this year, why not consider a book?
I’ve curated a list of various titles, ranging from fantasy to more traditional genres.
I’m confident that among these selections, you’ll find a book that will make a truly special and unexpected gift for your dad this year
The Best Books for Father's Day ( He will definitely enjoy )
The Accursed Kings Series
If your dad likes historical fiction, The Accursed King Series is just for him.
Each book tells the story of different French royals and their hunger for power.
George R.R. Martin, the author of A Song of Ice and Fire, has cited this series several times as an inspiration for his popular grimdark fantasy.
And truth be told, the political intrigues in both series are quite similar.

Master and Commander by Patrick O'Brian
Another historical fiction, but this one focuses more on the navy and adventures at sea.
This book tells the story of Captain Aubrey and Stephen Maturin, both aboard a British navy ship during the Napoleonic wars.
For me, what makes this book so interesting is the dynamics between the captain and his friend. They see life so differently, and their arguments are just hilarious.
The book is fast-paced and perfect for navy enthusiasts and people not so accustomed to reading.

The Road by Cormac McCarthy
What a book. A crude, realistic, and tragic stopry about his father and son in a post apocalyptic world.
Your dad will love this book if he is into dystopian stories. If he happens to have watched the film, even better. The book is totally superior to the movie, and I’m sure he will enjoy it.
You may like:
Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
Another post-apocalyptic story, Station Eleven focuses more on the meaning of life. It was a highly recommended book during the pandemic and makes us wonder if living only to survive makes us whole, or if we truly need art and recreation to fulfill our souls.
The Stand by Stephen King
One of—if not the—best Stephen King book. A classic. You can’t go wrong with this book as a gift for your dad.
Yes, it’s almost 1400 pages, but believe me when I say your dad won’t even notice it.
The first part of The Stand is truly horror, with some of the best post-apocalyptic scenes ever written (several, my fav being one involving a facility research center )). It mixes reality with fantasy, good vs. evil.

Red Rising by Pierce Brown
I’ve yet to find someone who doesn’t like this series.
When the good guy becomes the “villain” a la Breaking Bad:
Darrow is a Red, a member of the lowest caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he works all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of Mars livable for future generations.
But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity reached the surface generations ago.
I know you can guess where this is going…
I find this book particularly good as a “buddy read” to enjoy along with your dad. Give it a try!
Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence
A grimdark fantasy, a la Game of Thrones. Don’t expect this guy to be Prince Charming… on the contrary, he is cunning, ruthless, and violent.
Having witnessed the murder of his mother and brother, he has nothing left to lose and is back to claim his rightful place as king.
Monster by Naoki Urasawa
Ok yes, this one is a manga, but it’s a “seinen,” a graphic novel made for adults.
Imagine Hannibal Lecter mixed with Kira from Death Note and Heisenberg from Breaking Bad… and I’m not even close.
Dr. Tenma is a doctor, a very renowned one, and he saves the life of a little boy named Johan.
This special edition comes with colored pages.
If your dad likes complex characters and enthralling stories, take your chances with the first volume. It’s considered one of the best mangas in history.
Atomic Habits by James Clear
THE “it” book for helping break bad habits and getting back on track.
From the blurb: “No matter your goals, Atomic Habits offers a proven framework for improving—every day. James Clear, one of the world’s leading experts on habit formation, reveals practical strategies that will teach you exactly how to form good habits, break bad ones, and master the tiny behaviors that lead to remarkable results.”
Not my cup of tea, but basically everybody and their mom have read this.
If your dad isn’t very fond of reading, this book could be a good start!
The Art of War by Sun Tzu
The Art of War is often quoted in movies and is a must-have if your dad is interested in politics or beautiful editions.
This deluxe hardbound edition comes with gilded sprayed edges and a red page ribbon.
I love to collect special editions, and this one will surely look great on your dad’s bookshelf.
Father's day Book Recommendations like The Art of War
My Top Picks: Best Books to Gift on Father's Day
Well, it all depends on your dad’s tastes in books, but these three are all safe bets.
- The Art of War, being a deluxe edition, looks beautiful on any bookshelf and is a classic.
- The Iron King is even better than A Song of Ice and Fire (minus the fantastic element).
- Atomic Habits is the go-to book for people who aren’t very fond of reading.
I’m sure this list will help you find the right gift for your dad. Happy Father’s Day!”
